2014 Reading Challenges: The Series Challenge

For 2014, I'm thinking of spicing things up and participating in at least one or two reading challenges. For sure, I'll be participating in the Spring/Summer '14 Reading Challenge in Goodreads' College Students! group, but I'd also like to participate in some more general challenges. Here's one of the challenges that caught my eye, mainly because it seems like a good way to also keep track of all the series I'm currently following or interested in.

The 2014 Series Challenge is hosted by Octavia at Read. Sleep. Repeat. and consists of the following guidelines:

  • You must finish the series in 2014. If the series won't be completed by December 2014, then you must read up the most current release.
  • Series that you started prior to 2014 are fine as long as you finish the series in 2014.
  • If you decide to stop reading a series after one or two books, it does not count.
  • The series has to have at least 2 books out prior to December 1st, 2014
  • Proof that you finished the book is required. It could be a full review, a mini review, or a rating with a few lines. DNF’s do not count.
Run Time: 01 January 2014 - 31 December 2014
My Goal: Gold Badge (7-11 series)

I'm aiming for around 10-11 series this year, but hopefully I'll be able to finish more. There's always something new popping up. There are also some pretty badges and giveaways associated with this challenge, so if you're interested, you should definitely join, too! This is my tentative challenge list:

  1. This is actually a totally awesome list. The Mara Dyer trilogy is pretty great. I've only read The Unbecoming, but I've heard nothing but awesome things about the second book, so I'm excited to get to it. Also, yay for Cress. That's a 2014 release I'm going to wait outside of Barnes & Noble's doors for. No shame in it, either. Same for Ruin and Rising! I feel like 2014 is going to be a year of awesome releases.

This is a pretty cool challenge and I hope you can complete it. :P 365 days is a pretty decent amount of time to finish trilogies especially. Good luck!

  2. This is a cool challenge! I think I'm going to participate (if that's still possible of course). Lets spice up my reading! I just started the Throne of Glass series and loved the first book! Also the Shatter Me trilogy comes to an ending in 2014, as well as The Selection... yeah, I'm going to do this!
    Awesome post! <3

  3. I love the covers for the Mara Dyer trilogy and I've heard a lot of good things about it, so I'm definitely excited to try them out. I actually didn't realize how many trilogies I included on this list until you mentioned it haha. Thanks!

  4. Signups for this challenge are open all of 2014 so it's never too late! My sister absolutely loves the Throne of Glass series, so I'm definitely planning to borrow it from her. I've heard a LOT about the Shatter Me trilogy, but I haven't gotten around to it myself yet. D: I should check that out..
