Top Ten Tuesday (#5): Top Ten Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Bringing Me

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly blog meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish that allows readers to share their lists and opinions on a number of subjects from their top ten book covers to their top ten villains.

This week's topic for December 24th is:

Top Ten Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Bringing Me

1. Cress by Marissa Meyer
I just realized that this book is my most anticipated book for 2014. How can I resist futuristic fairy tale retellings with cyborgs, sassy spaceships, and people from the moon?? If there's anyone who could get me a copy of this book before the actual release date, it'd be Santa. If you can't do that, Santa, a pre-order would be fine, too.

2. Across the Universe series by Beth Revis
I've already read this series, but I had borrowed the books from my friend who raved and ranted and bugged me until I did read it. I automatically fell in love with this series, but I really need to get a copy of my own.

3. Battle Magic by Tamora Pierce
I love love LOVE Tamora Pierce's books set in the Tortall universe, but I never read her Emelan books until just this past summer. Battle Magic, which focuses on Briar, Rosethorn, and Evvy during the war that was teased in The Will of the Empress, was release in September, but I still haven't read it yet.

4. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
I don't read contemporary often, but I really enjoyed Rowell's Fangirl and Eleanor & Park. Fangirl, especially, was very cute and I'm definitely planning to follow more of Rowell's future releases.

5. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
I haven't read this book before, but I've seen it mentioned a lot on a lists regarding what you should read during the holiday season. What other book could be more fitting for a Christmas present than a book set on Christmas?

6. The Anatomy of Being by Shinji Moon
I am absolutely in love with Shinji Moon's writing, and if you follow her on tumblr, you'll know exactly why. She has such a wonderful way with words that I just want to crawl up into a ball and weep. And she's only 19! If Santa doesn't give me this book, I'll probably just end up buying it anyway.

7. The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, Vol. 3 by Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Exactly as it sounds, it's a tiny book full of tiny stories and drawings. I read Vol. 2 and while it's not a very long read, it's cavity-inducingly cute. I'm sure the third book in the series will be the same. For an idea of what the book is like, here is one of the stories.

8. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
I watched the movie adaptation with Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield, and I cried... I cried so so much. It was disturbingly beautiful, and I absolutely loved every bit of it. I actually didn't know it was originally a book until recently, but now that I do, I want to read it even more.

9. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (or any book) by Haruki Murakami
Believe it or not, I've never read a Murakami book... I know, I KNOW! I need to remedy this as soon as I can, and Santa can certainly help me with this by getting me a Murakami book.

10. Harry Potter Hardcover Boxed Set by J.K. Rowling
If it's going to be a Christmas present, we might as well go all out. I already have all the books in the Harry Potter series, but after 10+ years and many rereads later, some of the books are unfortunately falling apart. The Sorcerer's Stone is just about to lose some pages, and The Chamber of Secrets is the odd one out as the only paperback book of the bunch. Also, this boxed set comes in a really nice box.

What books would you like Santa to drop down your (hopefully unlit) chimney for Christmas? Whatever books they are, I hope you get everything you wish for this season. Stay safe, stay warm, happy Christmas Eve everyone. :)

  2. The Harry Potter boxset is a good choice! I was going to stick on my list the new paperback ones- the ones with the new cover art, but I decided I want to wait on those... but if Santa DID bring them, I wouldn't mind ;)

  9. Cress! I didn't add this to my list because I know I won't be pre-ordering it until some time in January, or close to the release date, and there's no way I'll get an ARC of it. But holy crap I'm so excited for it! I've heard it's the best of the 3, and people are really raving about it. The Harry Potter box set is an awesome choice. I feel like that's a series you need to have in a box set, especially when it comes to passing it on to future generations.

  10. Across the Universe has been on my TBR list for a while now, but I still haven't read it! Same with the Cinder series. I've heard so many good things about it.

I also love your blog design! It's adorable. :) New follower!
